Established in June 2004 as the OpenIB Alliance, the organization was originally funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. The name was changed to the OpenFabrics Alliance in March 2006 after the Alliance expanded its charter to include support for iWARP. Today, more than 30 corporations and organizations fund the Alliance’s work and participate in the development of the OpenFabrics software stack.

Process for Including OFA Quotes in Vendor Press Releases

  • Any OFA member who wishes to include an OFA quote in a company press release should submit the press release to the Marketing Working Group.  The contact person in the MWG is Jeff Scott (jeff@splitrockpr.com).
  • The press release should include the proposed quote as well as the name of the person within OFA to whom the quote should be attributed.
  • Jeff will route the press release to the person who is being quoted.  That person will approve and/or edit the quote within 72 hours.
  • Jeff will then route the press release to the MWG.  MWG members will have 72 hours to review and comment.
  • Jeff will send the approved quote, including any edits made by the MWG, back to the requesting company.
  • The company can issue the release but must send a final version of the release back to Jeff so the MWG can keep it on file.
